In this increasingly eco-conscious world, any effort that is directed towards protecting the natural environment is highly appreciated. A significant percentage of the pallets that we use today are made from recycled plastics. This is good for the environment in so many different ways.
For starters, plastic waste is taken to recycling facilities, meaning less waste ends up being deposited at the landfills. Second, the energy required to process plastic waste at the recycling plant is much less compared to that required to manufacture new plastics from scratch. Third, compared to when making plastic from a fresh supply of raw materials, the recycling of plastic waste releases less amounts of harmful gas emissions into the environment.
Without a doubt, the environment gains a whole lot when pallets are made using recycled plastics. Environmental benefits aside, businesses stand to gain the following benefits if they invest in plastic pallets.
Plastic pallets are durable
Typically, pallets are used in highly demanding work environments that require strong, hardwearing products. To start with, plastic material does not react with water or chemicals, so business operators don't have to worry about the potential for water damage (like with wooden pallets) or corrosion (as with metal pallets). Second, pallets made of recycled plastics are pre-engineered with high-tech manufacturing techniques, such as injection moulding and extrusion, which facilitate the production of strong and durable pallets, with consistent dimensional accuracy.
Plastic pallets are lighter in weight
When compared to metal or wooden pallets of the same load capacity, plastic pallets are by far less heavy. This helps make easy work of loading and unloading of cargo because the total weight of packed plastic pallets is generally less compared to that of comparable metal or wooden pallets.
The lightweight advantage of plastic pallets also comes into play during transport of cargo. As plastic pallets weigh significantly less, it means cargo transporters will have extra load capacity for cargo. Hence, plastic pallets can help transport more payload at a go.
Plastic pallets are very hygienic
As they do not catch rust like metal, or grow mould, algae, mildew, and other forms of bacteria, like wood, plastic pallets are an ideal choice for carrying and transporting hygiene-sensitive products, such as food and drugs. If anything spills on the plastic, it will simply trickle down the smooth surface of the material. What is more, dirty pallets can be hosed down, without causing any structural damage.
